Last week we began looking at The Seven Dimensions of God that make Any Human Fulfill Ministry, and we considered The Spirit of the LORD. We saw the link between the Spirit of the LORD and the glory of the LORD. When the Bible says in the book of Isaiah 60:1 that "arise and shine for your light has come and the glory of the Lord is risen upon you", the Lord helped us to realize that the glory of the LORD is the Spirit of the LORD. Now in this edition, we will be looking at another dimension which is a necessity if we desire fulfillment in ministry. You remember the Scripture that we considered in Isaiah 11:1-4, it was about the coming king, it was about Jesus Christ, about the Messiah. But the truth is, if Jesus required the things that the LORD showed us last week, then we also require them. Again, we are going to be reading that chapter, Isaiah 11:1-2, the Bible says:
“There shall come forth a Rod from the stem of Jesse,
And a Branch shall grow out of his roots.
2 The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him,
The Spirit of wisdom and understanding,
The Spirit of counsel and might,
The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord.”
If we remember that last week, we considered the Spirit of the LORD, what we are looking at in this particular edition is: The Spirit of Wisdom. I am sure we remember in the book of John 4:24 that the Bible says “for God is Spirit and those who worship God must worship Him in spirit and in truth.” God is Spirit, and we must understand that every time we remember God, we are remembering the Spirit. God is Spirit and so, the things that God gives, they are spiritual things. The things that God supplies; they are spiritual supplies. And so, if you want to fulfill the mandate of God which is also a spiritual responsibility that God has put upon your life, which you have never been able to avoid or dodge in spite of your attempt, then you must understand that you require the supplies of God in your life.
Last week, we saw the first supply that you require. You require the supply of the Spirit of the LORD. You need the full embodiment of the LORD, the full glory of the LORD over your life. The Spirit of the LORD must rest upon you, and in addition to this, you also require the Spirit of wisdom. Every time we remember the Spirit of wisdom, we must remember that the Spirit of wisdom is that dimension of God that makes the secrets, the mysteries, the ways and the laws of God known or manifest. And so, you don’t get to know what God is thinking, you don’t get to know the mind of God, the ways of God, the mysteries of God, things that God has hidden from men, hidden from the universe but are available by the Spirit except you have the Spirit of wisdom in you.
The Spirit of wisdom is the dimension of God that makes the secrets of God, the mysteries of God, the ways of God, the laws of God known or manifest to any human. And so, if you have an assignment from God, if God has called you for a specific assignment, beginning from the day He called you up till this time in the year 2021, you must remember that if you will succeed in that assignment; you require the dimension of God that makes you wise. That is what is called the Spirit of wisdom. It is the dimension of God that makes you wise. Very quickly I want us to consider a familiar Scripture in the book of Ephesians 1:15-21. The Bible says:
“Therefore, I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, 16 do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers: 17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation…”
I am sure we remember what we saw in the book of Isaiah 11:1-2. The Bible says “the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding.” So, at this point, apostle Paul was praying that the Lord should give the people of Ephesus the Spirit of wisdom and revelation. The question is, why? Let us read further:
“…that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, 18 the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power 20 which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.”
I am sure you are familiar with that Scripture that we have just read now. Apostle Paul was desiring and demanding from God over a people and his desire was that they should be given by God the Spirit of wisdom and revelation. The question is: Why? It is because they needed. God needed to give them the Spirit of wisdom and revelation if they would succeed, if they would fulfill the ministry which He has committed into their hands. God does not leave you on the earth how you would fulfill ministry. Ministry is God’s ordained assignment to any human and so, when it comes to you as a man, the resources that you require to fulfill it must also come from God. If the people of Ephesus must fulfill their ministry, then they must have the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him. And so, apostle Paul led them into an experience by saying this: he desired that God should give them the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of God, the eyes of their understanding should become enlightened so that they may know.
So, until the Spirit of wisdom and revelation comes on them, even though they are believers, they wouldn’t fulfill their ministry. It is not enough for you to be in the church or a Christian; the question you must ask yourself is: Am I fulfilling my ministry? If you are not fulfilling your ministry, the Bible is showing us the factors that could be responsible. It could be because you lack the Spirit of wisdom. Now, Apostle Paul said the eyes of their understanding being enlightened that they may know: Number one; what is the hope of His calling, Number two, what are the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, Number three, what is the exceeding greatness of His power towards them who believes.
Now, the question I would like to ask you is this and I want you to be very honest since you are believer. Honesty is inherent in the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ. Number one, do you know the hope of the call of God on your life? Do you know the expectation of the call of God on your life? Do you know why your life is expected to fulfill a purpose on the earth? Do you know what your purpose and your assignment would produce to you and your generation? Do you know? If you don’t know all these, then I must declare to you that you require the spirit of wisdom. Again, I want to ask just like apostle Paul asked. Do you know the hope of the call of God on your life? Because the call of God upon your life has an expectation. Again, beyond know this, then you must find out what are the riches of the glory of the inheritance in the saints. What are the things that have been freely made available to us by God? And again, you must be able to find an answer to that question that says: What is the exceeding greatness of His power towards us that believe?
You see, the power of God is available for you. It is available for every believer, every saint in Christ Jesus. However, we don’t all know and realize what God has made available for us, that Christ wouldn’t live on the earth, pursuing His ministry in ignorance, God gave Him the Spirit of wisdom. If Christ needed the Spirit of wisdom, and He knew the hope of His call, He knew the riches of the glory of the inheritance, He knew the exceeding greatness of the power of God toward Him, He knew all these things. There was a time Jesus asked a question from His disciples and the Bible says "...He Himself knew what to do." The question is: "How did He know what to do?" He knew what to do by the Spirit of wisdom upon His life.
Now, I want us to conclude with the book of Ephesians 3, I will read from verse 1-7. The Bible says:
“For this reason, I, Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus for you Gentiles— 2 if indeed you have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which was given to me for you, 3 how that by revelation He made known to me the mystery (as I have briefly written already, 4 by which, when you read, you may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ), 5 which in other ages was not made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to His holy apostles and prophets:”
Many things that the other generation did not know, the holy apostles and prophets gets to know. Why? The Spirit reveals them. So, the mysteries God, the secrets of Christ, the ways of God, the laws of God, which are hidden from the multitudes are revealed to men and women who carry the Spirit of wisdom. God is able to endow you and bestow upon you the Spirit of wisdom, but you must desire Him. You must desire the Spirit of wisdom. The Bible speaking in Proverbs that it was through wisdom that God founded the earth. Everything God created; God used wisdom to do. In fact, in Proverbs, the Bible says through wisdom a house is built. The wisdom of God you require to fulfill ministry can only be supplied to you by God. You cannot engage worldly wisdom to fulfill godly assignment. You cannot engage Satanic wisdom to fulfill godly assignment. The assignment of God for your life cannot be accomplished if you use the methods, the styles, the traditions, the principles of this world.
You require the principles of God, the pattern of God, the manner of God, the laws of God to govern you even as you go about fulfilling the ministry that God has committed into your hands. You remember, God is Spirit and if you must fulfill His assignment, you must do it in spirit and in truth. You yourself must become a spiritual entity who carries within you the Spirit of wisdom for you to fulfill the responsibilities of God over your life. I believe God’s word has been sent to you, I believe you are inspired already by these words. You must get in pursuit of the spirit of wisdom. The Bible says “wisdom is the principal thing”, in fact, the Bible also refers to Jesus as the power and the wisdom of God. You require the wisdom of God if you must fulfill the works of God. You remember the Scripture that says the labor of the fools wearies them because they do not even know how to get to the city. There is a how, there is a manner you must accomplish the responsibilities of God hanging upon your life.
Don’t do it anyhow. Don’t do it the way men are doing it. You must do it the way God expects you to do it and if you must know, then you must carry the Spirit of wisdom. And so, I pray that the Spirit of the Lord rests upon each and everyone listening to this message, I pray the Spirit of wisdom rests upon you wherever you are in the name of Jesus, even as you look unto God as the one who is able to supply all spiritual needs, as the one who is able to equip you, as the one who is able to build you up, as the one who is able to enable you, I see the Spirit of God coming over your life in the name of Jesus. The Spirit of the Lord rests upon you, the Spirit of wisdom rests upon you, you go about fulfilling the assignment of God on your life by the Spirit of wisdom in the name of Jesus. You will not struggle, you will not misfire, you will not go about trying and doing all manner of things, using trials by errors, trying to just get busy, you will fulfill your ministry, you won’t miss your target in the name of Jesus.
