Leadership Secret: Self-Confidence vs Christ-Confidence

Confidence is the indispensable asset of every effective leader and peak performer. In fact, you will only achieve to the degree of your confidence. Someone once said, If you think you can do it, you are right; and if think you cannot do it, you are also right. However, no man who thinks he cannot do a thing ever gets it done.

Now that we know how important confidence is, we must then discover the true source of unfailing confidence. The world is not lacking in confident people, but I believe that the world needs to discover the true source of confidence.

Confidence can be sourced in Self – who you are, what you have done in the past, who you know, who knows you and your influence. Because you think you have done so much in the past, you then become confident in the face of adversity. This is the commonest source of confidence and this is what psychologists teach many people across the nations of the world.

An average sport person is reminded of past exploits, and such a person becomes confident that he or she can achieve the desired victory. Sometimes they win, and sometimes they lose. When they win, the immediately ascribe glory to themselves, and when the lose, the feel bad about themselves. In short, every man or woman's praise or blame is to the source of his or her confidence. That is, you will praise your source of confidence when you win, and blame your source of confidence when you lose.

I have found the best and surest source of confidence, it is not me or my past or current exploits. It is Christ! No wonder Apostle wrote that, "Christ in me, the hope of glory..." It then appears to me that the secret of attainment of great feats of heights is not more pep talks, but complete reliance of Christ. Apostle also said, I can do all things (including sleep, walk, eat, jump, teach, fast, discipline my body, pray, meet corporate targets, write books, compose songs, raise healthy children, lead my home, travel, serve my generation, help the needy, give to the poor, etc.) through Christ that strengthens me. Indeed, every man's strength comes from his source of confidence – but the greatest strength comes from the greatest of all – Christ Jesus.

Some trust in (have confidence in) their horses and the chariots, but we will trust in the name of the LORD. The name of the Lord is the strong tower, the righteous runs into it and they are safe. Indeed, my safety, victory, success and prosperity is in and by Christ Jesus. Why will I not trust Him?
