Can a Spirit be Trapped and Abandoned Inside Human Body?: Discover the Answer in This Article

In this article, we will be finding an answer to that important question: Can a Spirit be Trapped and abandoned Inside Human Body? While we could go to Google to find an answer to this question, I have chosen to go to the Word of God to find an answer to what is confusing many people across the world today. In the next few minutes, I will be taking us through two or three Scriptures to find answer to that question and by the end of this article, I am sure you would be convinced about what is the truth and what is not.

In Luke chapter 1 from verse 31. Something was written for us to glean and learn from, so let's go straight into it. See what the Bible says:

And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus. 32 He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest, and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. 33 And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom, there will be no end.” 34 Then Mary said to the angel, “How can this be since I do not know a man?”

What has brought us into this conversation is the question: “Can A Spirit Be Trapped and Abandoned Inside the Human Body?” In verse 34, Mary asked another question that she was also like many of us confused about. She said, “can this be: can I, a woman, who has not been with a man be with a child, or be found with a child?” See the response of the angel in verse 35: “And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.” not the Son of Man. Why? Because what will produce Him is not going to come from man but is going to come directly from God.

See how the Bible put it, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you.” The question we are asking is, can the spirit be trapped and abandoned inside a human body? Why we may not at this point look at trapped and abandoned, if we may start with can a spirit be inside a human body? This an answer, he said, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the highest will overshadow you, as a result of this, “that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.” He is going to be born of the Spirit because the Spirit will fill you; the Spirit will produce a life inside of you. And that's important for us believers to understand that actually, a man or a woman can be filled with a spirit.

In this place where we just read, it wasn't just a spirit, it was the Holy Spirit; while it could be the Holy Spirit for some people, for many other people it is some kind of spirit. The truth is, it is possible for a body can be filled with a spirit. Now let's go to something else that I believe will help us along this path of finding an answer to the important question. Matthew chapter 27 from verse 45-50.

45 Now from the sixth hour until the ninth hour there was darkness over all the land. 46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” that is, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” 47 Some of those who stood there, when they heard that, said, “This Man is calling for Elijah!” 48 Immediately one of them ran and took a sponge, filled it with sour wine and put it on a reed, and offered it to Him to drink. 49 The rest said, “Let Him alone; let us see if Elijah will come to save Him.” 50 And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice and yielded up His Spirit.

If you look at that Scripture, verse 50, the Bible says, And yielded up His spirit.” So, the Spirit was in His body, and He decided then to give the Spirit up — the Spirit escaped from the body. However, before that moment, Jesus said, “Eli, Eli, lama Sabacthani?” that is, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”  What is the other word for forsake? When you forsake someone, another way we can put it is, somebody is abandoned. Jesus was alarmed at that point, My God, I look abandoned at this moment, I cannot find You; I cannot see You; your face has been covered from Me, what is going on? So, this is something that we can meditate on.

For Jesus, it was the Spirit of God that filled Him. It was the Spirit of God that overwhelmed Him to the point that He began to manifest the life of God on the earth. But for many people across the world today, and perhaps, even in the body of Christ, they are not so lucky to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Many are filled with all manner of spirits, the spirit of seduction, the spirit of lies; they tell lies without thinking twice, because there is a spirit that has been trapped, and perhaps, abandoned inside of them. So, we think evil, we do evil, we speak evil, and so much going on in our minds, because certain spirits have been trapped within us, and they cannot escape. And so, they make us think things, they make us do things, and we look like a victim in that circumstance.

Again, there's a Scripture, I want us to look at in the Book of Matthew chapter 12 from verse 43. See what the Bible says:

When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none. 44 Then he says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when he comes, he finds it empty, swept, and put in order. 45 Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there, and the last state of that man is worse than the first. So, shall it also be with this wicked generation.

Now, if we look at that Scripture from verse 43, the Bible says, When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none”. Now, when you look at what the Scripture says, When an unclean spirit goes out of a man… you could ask, does that unclean spirit go out or leave the body peacefully or joyfully, excitedly? The answer is no. That is to tell you that unclean spirits; whatever name you could call them, don't want to leave bodies, they love to reside inside bodies. But when an unclean spirit is chased out, is forced out, that spirit that was initially trapped, and perhaps, abandoned in that body, therefore making the body produce all manner of behavioral tendencies, all manner of traits, all manner of qualities, all manner of character, that body would then be released or freed from the burden of those spirits.

But what happens, the Bible says, “when an unclean spirit is chased out like that, it goes out looking for rest,” which means there was something that the spirit had in the body that the spirit doesn't have access to, and is therefore seeking it. The Bible says when the spirit does not find it, the spirit goes back to where it came from, to check the state of the body. And if the body is empty, that is, it doesn't have the right spirit in it, that body is kept in order, that body is ready for a new residence, or a new tenant, then the spirit will go out again, look for more other wicked spirits, and then they will come and dwell in the body.

The long and short of this matter is that spirits actually love to reside inside bodies. And this is where you have to introspect. Why? Why do spirits love to be trapped and abandoned, and perhaps, if nothing is done, they will love to remain inside their host? I'm sure you still remember the story of the mad man of Gadara. The man was possessed by legions of demons, and they were at rest inside that body until Jesus showed up. When Jesus showed up, they wouldn't want to go but since it was Jesus, they had to ask, please, don't send us back to hell; allow us to enter this swine that is flocking around there. And Jesus said they should go. So, they went straight into the herd of the swine.

That shows us that spirits love to reside inside bodies. And I make bold to submit at this point that as spirits: the unclean and the foul spirits love to tabernacle in human bodies, the Holy Spirit also loves to tabernacle inside the human body. However, unlike the other spirit, when the Holy Spirit comes into your body, He makes you do great things. The Bible says it is the Spirit that gives life, the flesh profits nothing the Words that I say to you, they are Spirit and their life. The point is, if you want to do great things in your lifetime, you require the right spirit to be within you. If you don't have the Holy Spirit of Christ in you; If you don't have the Holy Spirit of God inside of you, then you have made your body to become open and inviting to other spirits.

Remember, when a man's body is clean, when a man's body is swept, is empty and is put in order and there is no spirit from the Lord inside that body, other unclean spirits will come; you don't need to ask them to come; they will come on their own. I'm sure you don't want to accommodate unclean spirits in your own life because once they come in, they make your life unclean; everything about you will be messed up, and your business will be messed up; your marriage will be messed up; your ministry will be missed up, whatever you do will be a mess. Why? They've come into your body.

At this moment. I want you to pray to God and ask, Lord, every unclean spirit that is in me, please cast them out in the name of Jesus. Jesus speaking in Matthew chapter 15 said that whatever tree that is inside anywhere that My Father in heaven has not planted shall be uprooted. And I want you to pray to God Lord, every tree in me, every tree, every spiritual tree, every spiritual tree in me that the Lord God Almighty in heaven has not planted let them be uprooted at this hour in the name of Jesus. My heart is for the Lord. Holy Spirit, come into my heart, come and make my heart your home.

For Jeus, the Spirit of God tabernacled with Him till the end. He gave up the Spirit when He was done with what God would have Him do on the earth. The truth is: Whatever God would have you do on this earth cannot be done without the Spirit of God living inside of you. This is where you have to go back to God and ask: Holy Spirit, come into my heart and make it your home, don’t let my life accommodate violent and unclean spirits, but your Spirit alone. I want my life to be the accommodation of the Holy Spirit. Remember, the Bible says your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. So, make it clean. Make it hospitable. Make it attractive to the Holy Spirit and never lose Him forever.

Don’t forget Jesus said: “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” that is, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” It is sin that makes God to forsake a man. At that moment in the life of Jesus, He has taken upon Himself the sin of the whole world. So, God could not behold Him. At that moment, He felt trapped and abandoned by God and when He was done, He gave up the Spirit. The Spirit left His body. At a point in time, the spirit in you will leave your body. But before then, allow the Spirit of God in you will help you to do the will of God. Allow the Holy Spirit to help you bot to will and to do God’s pleasure and your life will be for greatness and for glory on this earth in the name of Jesus.

Amen!
