Build Me A Sanctuary: Dwelling Among Men Vs Dwelling Inside Men

A sanctuary, just like the synagogue is the place of worship. The place where services are rendered to God. In short, it is the house of God. Today, an average Jew or Christian goes to the sanctuary or synagogue at least 3 times a week; for prayers to God and fellowship with God.

But I saw something in the Scriptures that is lightening my path as a disciple of Jesus Christ to the perfect will of God for His people.

And this is the offering which you shall take from them: gold, silver, and bronze; blue, purple, and scarlet thread, fine linen, and goats' hair, ram skins dyed red, badger skins, and acacia wood; oil for the light, and spices for the anointing oil and for the sweet incense; onyx stones, and stones to be set in the ephod and in the breastplate. AND LET THEM MAKE ME A SANCTUARY, THAT MAY DWELL AMONG THEM.

Exodus 25:3-8

I trust God for grace to share these words in good faith and confidence. I am sure that an average Jew or Christian is familiar with the words of that Scripture; but beyond familiarity, we must all understand the truth in it. During that dispensation or generation, the presence of God was scarcely on the earth – He comes to visit or work and leaves almost immediately. But at given time, God instructed Moses to make collections among the people of Israel, so that a sanctuary could be built (with human hands) as a habitation for Him among them (the people).

As we know, after the ascension of Christ Jesus, the Holy Spirit came down, and filled each disciple of Jesus that was at the upper room. And from that moment, men began to house the LORD. Hitherto, God's presence was confined to the innermost court – holiest of holies; where even the priest hardly come or go to. That experience was turned around with the sacrifice of Jesus, which gave every man opportunity to house God – that is, unlike before when God was just dwelling among His people in tents built by human hands; He now dwell inside every believer in Christ Jesus.

No wonder when Jesus began His ministry in the book of Matthew, the Scripture says that He went to THEIR synagogue, teaching and preaching. The point is, Jesus did not go to the synagogues to join them in their worship, but to turn their hearts from mere routine works to living sacrifices. God cannot be confined to buildings of blocks: for His desire is to live in you and in Me. Your life is the best habitation that you can build for God. God's plan is not to dwell among the people perpetually, but to dwell in them.

May I say then that God is not in the building of your sanctuary or synagogue any more as it were….He is now in you. Do you remember the story of the blind man at the beautiful gate. He encountered God outside the gate of the temple, when the men that carried the presence of God came to him. If I may ask you, "what was the experience of those in the temple that day?". The point is, your miracle is not tied to places, but to the Person of the Lord. Invite Him into your life and He will make your life a showroom of His wonders on earth.

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with me.

Revelations 3:20

the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and WILL BE IN YOU.

John 14:17

The truth must be told….the Holy Spirit is the presence of God inside every man or woman that believes in Jesus as the Lord and Saviour….Gone were the days when you say you are going to the presence of God…..the presence of God is now in you…if you know the Lord Jesus Christ…and you are known by Him.
