What You Must Do In Times of Trouble: How to See Your Desires On Your Enemies Through God

Lara Gboyega Adedeji: Hello friends and welcome to Bible in Focus. We are so excited to have you join us today on another edition of Bible in Focus. We will be zeroing in on the word of God and we will be learning salient principles that will make for our victory and triumph in life. You are welcome!!!

Gboyega Adedeji: In the book of Psalms, Chapter 59, we'll be reading from verse 9-10, gleaning the wisdom of God for our safety, for our defence as His people on the earth, irrespective of the nation that you could be living, irrespective of the situation around you. There is a provision of God to keep you on I safe, and by the grace of God, we'll be learning from the book of Psalms Chapter 59, especially from verse 9-10 what God has for us today. I read:

I will wait for You, O You his Strength;
For God is my defence.
10 My God of mercy shall come to meet me;
God shall let me see my desire on my enemies.

Lara Gboyega Adedeji: So, no matter what you're going through, no matter the situation you are in right now. The Bible makes us to understand that God is your defence, no matter the battle, you are fighting in life, maybe you're fighting a terminal illness. Maybe you're fighting for your marriage, whether you're fighting for your child, whether you're fighting for your finances, whether you're fighting any kind of battle there is, the Bible makes it clear to us. It said: God is your defence. God is my defence. God is your defence, but you have a responsibility. And your responsibility is to wait for Him. Don't run ahead of Him. Don't delay behind Him. Wait for Him. Wait for God to come to meet you at the point of your need.

Gboyega Adedeji: See what the Bible says in that verse 10. It says: My God of mercy shall come to meet me. So, how did he know it? It must have been because God had promised him. God said, I am coming. Don't be agitated. Don’t be discouraged. Don't be frustrated, don't give in, don’t give up. I am coming for you. And he said, I am confident in the Word of God. So, I am going to wait because He will come. He who will come will come.

Lara Gboyega Adedeji: So, I'm going to wait because He who will come will come and He will not tarry. So, it is important that we take this posture of waiting for us to see the promise of God comes to pass in our lives. God is your defence. God will defend you; God will protect you; God will keep you safe. But you have to wait for Him. Don't have 1001 options and make God the last option. Make Him the first and the only and wait on Him. And as you wait on Him, He will come to me.

Gboyega Adedeji: Verse 9 concluded with something that is highly instructive for us. It says: I will wait for you, O you his strength, O you my strength, O you the strength of Omolara, O you the strength of Gboyega, I will wait for you, O you his trained for God is my defence.

Lara Gboyega Adedeji: That's the confidence.

Gboyega Adedeji: And you know, let me show us in case some of us don't know this. When you use the word ‘my’, it shows the personalization of the subjects. You know you can say my wife, you can say my husband, you can say my Bible. Now when you're addressing my, nobody will be in doubt about the relationship or the connection between you and the subject or the object you are referring to. So, when you're saying my defence is not because He sometimes defend me, it is not because He may defend, He may not defend. It is because He has been defending me and He will defend me. My wife is my wife, now, now, she will remain my wife. You know there was a time John C. Maxwell was teaching about this my in leadership. He says when a man becomes the pastor of the church, it could take time before the members begins to say, my pastor, they will start with our pastor. And in fact, it takes a process, even in organizations for the team members to begin to call a particular person, my leader, they start with our leader. You see, our has no direct or personal connection. So, a time comes in the life of a man, and he realizes, or a woman realizes that God isn’t just our defence, He is my defence.

Lara Gboyega Adedeji: Wow!!!

Gboyega Adedeji: And that is very reassuring to anyone that wants to believe this. God can be your own defence, the same way God was the defence of the writer of this book, it says, My God is my defence. He has defended me; He will do it again. And so, I will wait for Him, because He will come to meet me at this point of my need, at this situation that wants to embarrass me; at this level of desperation of my heart, God will show up.

Lara Gboyega Adedeji: He will be there for me. He will not leave me nor forsake me. He will be there for me; He will be my ever-present help in time of need. So, God is your defence. We have come to share with you the good news of the Word of God, of the Bible, that God is your defence, that God will come to meet you at the point of your need, He will deliver you from trouble, He will deliver you from any attack of the enemy because the Bible says God shall let me see my desire on my enemies. What is that thing that is your enemy right now? What is that situation that is right now standing against you? Any situation standing against you is your enemy.

Gboyega Adedeji: It doesn't have to be a person.

Lara Gboyega Adedeji: It doesn't have to be a person because we do not wrestle against flesh and blood. The Bible says any situation, anyone contending with you…

Gboyega Adedeji: Any addiction, any attitude or indiscipline, any pandemic, any unemployment…

Lara Gboyega Adedeji: Any pandemic standing against you is your enemy. But it says God will make me see my desire. So, what's your desire? You must have a desire. Because God will make you see your desire, my desire on my enemy.

Gboyega Adedeji: So, if you have no desire, you will see nothing. Don’t blame God that you are not seeing anything happening to the situations around you, whatever is oppressing you, and you have no desire against, then you will see nothing. That's what this Bible says. And you must have the right attitude, the right desire, in every circumstance that you're going through. You see, there could be a way out of any mess, but you must desire a way out. And so, God is able to make that desire a reality.

Lara Gboyega Adedeji: So, we just want to encourage you with this word, we believe that you've gleaned wisdom, and you've been able to see the pathway for your victory and triumph in every situation. God is your defence. And as you have the desire to wait on Him and have a desire to come out of those difficult situations, you will see Him come to meet you in Jesus’ name!

Gboyega Adedeji: Alright! That is the end of the video. So short, but it's important we keep the words, meditating on them, making life decisions from them. Indeed, God is your defence. You must never doubt that. In your circumstance, God will come and meet you there. God is not too big to come to your circumstance and you are not too small to attract divine attention in your situation.
