The Disciples Walk Pt.2: Discover Your Destiny In Christ Jesus

Please the first part of this article for a better insight – The Disciple's Walk Pt.1

If you are a disciple, you will be able to confess. There is something that Paul said in Galatians. He started by giving a load down of who Paul is, his background and al his qualifications, where he had been and all that he had achieved and done. But at the end, Paul said he counted all those achievements as dung. What value do you place on dung? Do you go to the market to purchase dung? Do you celebrate dung? There is no value for dung. As a matter of fact, people want to be separated from dung. That was exactly what Apostle Paul did, separated himself from all his achievements for the sake of Christ. That is a disciple's walk.

Disciple's walk is a personal walk. Nobody can walk for you. Because your father is a pastor does not mean that he can live this life for you. You have to decide to be a disciple. You have to come into a conscious disciple's walk. There is no Jesus' disciples that came to Him by accident. The rich man couldn't separate himself from his riches, no wonder he was not able to walk with Jesus Christ. So what are we turning back to, abandoning our discipleship? This walk is a daily walk. You have to be firmly rooted in it. Let us examine Colossians 1:27.

27 To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

This is the end of discipleship. This is the crocs of every disciple's walk: 'Christ in you, the hope of glory'. And I love that word, 'hope' because everything about God is a seed. It didn't say Christ in you the star of glory or the mountain of glory, but Christ in you, the hope of glory. This is the end result of every disciple's walk. That Christ may be formed in you. Why have you subscribed for discipleship? Is it to become rich or famous? Is it to become wealthy? Those would be wrong destination. The destination is Christ in you, the hope of glory, that Christ may be fully formed in you.

But remember, and this is where I always let believers know. Christ died, the book of Revelation says the lamb was slain to receive their inheritances in Christ so, Christ cannot be in you and His inheritances would not be in you. He said the lamb was slain to receive power, glory, strength, wisdom, honour riches and blessings. These seven inheritances are in Christ. The Christ in you is the Christ of riches, of power of wisdom of strength, the one that has honour and has power, that is the Christ that you have submitted to has your discipler. And He cannot disciple you and become something else, or be experiencing something outside Him.

Look at His disciples, from Peter to James to Stephen and even John, there is glory around their lives, strength, wisdom, power, honour riches and blessings. So this discipleship walk is not a walk to emptiness, poverty and lack. But your priorities must be right. Why have you come into discipleship? That Christ may be fully formed and manifested in your vessel. You have come because there is an experience, knowledge and expertise in Christ that you want to learn and submit to, and become. The disciples of Jesus were not non-entities, they were great people.

Matthew was a tax collector for example, the bible didn't say that he left Jesus and went back to his tax collecting job. he stayed with Him, because there was something about His life that commanded his submission. He wanted to be like Him. He looked at Jesus and there was an experience that he desired from Him, a knowledge and an expertise he desired that made him stayed with Him. What do you desire in Jesus? That should be the reason for your walk.

I believe you have been blessed.
