Schools of Thought: How Discipleship Transform Nations

The reality of our generation is quite alarming; people read almost anything except what could truly help them. Many of our scholars and learned men and women read for knowledge sake, which only puffs up; while a lot of people read for certification sake. As good as those realities are; they are equally killing a lot of people, who have read almost everything possible; but still needs to read more. Little wonder why Solomon, one of the greatest Presidents of Israel (the renowned wise King) objected that, “All things are full of labour; Man cannot express it. The eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear filled with hearing.” (Ecclesiastes 1:8). What a pathetic odious living!

If I may write freely, life is far greater than debate-driven acquisitions of knowledge: For what is the essence of studying and hearing, when the status quo is maintained everywhere.

The school is a place of education; and in the true sense, education is not education, when it lacks the capacity and ability for a total transformation of the educated. As we know, a long educational process is involved before a man or woman can become a Medical Doctor or Nurse or even an Architect. Truly, after the processes are completed, the total person of the educated is transformed from an ordinary citizen of a country to a Medical Doctor, Registered Nurse, or an Accountant in that country.

I have heard and overheard a couple of discussions about the attitudes, appearances and aptitude of various educated citizens. Some said, “Accountants and Economists are stingy (or perhaps very careful) with money; some claimed that Medical Doctors are quiet, caring, patient and studious people. They also said that Lawyers are hardly quiet; while Engineers do not usually care much about their appearance. While you may or may not agree with what people believe about various professionals; I would submit that, “all of them were not born and brought up that way”. Rather, a good number of them could be described as transformed people.

If we agree that the process and content of an education at a particular school, possess strong power for the transformation of the educated; then, I will persuade you to patiently read the quote below:

And do not be conformed (group-think behaviour) to this world, but be transformed (totally changed in appearance or character) by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

(Ambassador Paul – Romans 12:2)

The keywords from the quotation are conformity, transformation, and mind renewal. If I may, I would submit that every education that is provided across the world at various schools, from the Community Development Primary Schools at villages in Nigeria, to Harvard Business School and Stanford Universityin United States of America, does nothing really in anyone but mere conformity. If you observe carefully, what is taught is what is discovered to have worked (they call them best practices), which makes anyone who conforms to them best practitioners. However, doing what others are doing, the way others are doing it, cannot make any man or woman the best he or she could ever become.

Check this up, the best Doctors, Pilots, Engineers, Business and Public Administrators in our societies today, are not the ones who behaved or worked the conventional way (best practice); rather, they are the few men and women that dared to be different and do things differently. Do I mean that you should not continue in the pursuit of your career as an Engineer or Doctor? Of course not! But remember, “a conformed man is a deformed man, who can never perceive, nor prove God’s good, acceptable and perfect will for his life.”

Best practice, I would submit, is therefore not about chasing the latest principle in vogue in our societies of lower or higher learning; but being transformed inwardly and outwardly to become the best man or woman who do not only know that God’s will for his or her life is to become a Business tycoon, Medical Doctor, Lawyer, an Architect, a Fashion Designer, an Artistic Director, a Carpenter, Teacher and Politician; but has proven God’s will overtime in his or her spirit.

Truly, no sustainable transformation comes outside good educational process; but the content and duration of the education, are the factors that determines the attitude, appearance, aptitude and perhaps the altitude of the educated.

God’s Agenda for Man’s Education (Transformation)

The book of Genesis in the Bible (the body of books authored by God through men and women) among other four books were written (not authored) by Moses – accounting the creation of the Earth, Man, Marriage, Work, and Kingdom among others. If you recall, Moses was not yet born when those events unfolded; but God gave him the required revelation (understanding), so that the succeeding generations of mankind (including you and I) would know how everything started and the purpose of all creations. Truly, no man enrols in the book (school of thought) of Genesis and graduates the same; instead, each person encounters the transforming power of God’s Spirit.

Moving on from there to Exodus, Joshua, Proverbs, Psalms, Habakkuk, Luke, Acts, James and Revelation; you would see clearly that each of the books of the Bible are actually schools of thought, administered by the Holy Spirit Himself. I have heard about men and women that got answers to Mathematical problems in their Doctoral thesis and Master’s projects while attending one of the 66 schools in the Bible.

You see, because the Bible is a bundle of schools without walls; a lot of men and women have cross-studied and are cross-studying. Honestly, no man or woman enrols in any of the schools of thought in the Bible and remains the same academically, relationally, financially, politically, vocationally and spiritually among others. A man who had been bed-ridden (confined to the bed) for around 18 months was invited into the school of Luke (Medicine & Surgery); and after a few days, after encountering the Chief Surgeon of the school – Jesus Christ, he got up with only one (1) particular dose of verse. The man’s name is Kenneth E. Hagin; who moved on from there to become God’s Doctoral student on earth before he died over 80 years of age and was a Kingdom Doctor for around 60 years of his life. Indeed, the books of the Bible are God’s schools of thought for effective living, effective serving and effective leading on the earth.

Another man called, Arch-Bishop Benson Idahosa, was at his home city in Benin when he enrolled in one of the schools of the gospel of Jesus Christ. After a short experience in that school, he got a mind renewing dose of verse that arose in him an unending desire to raise other people from death to life. He could not wait for people to bring their dead family members or friends to him; but went in search for them. Fortunately, he found one and from there, he began to raise dead people back to life – on his strong encounter at a school of thought in the Bible – indeed, nothing transforms fast, strong and genuine like the 66 schools of thought in the Bible.

When you fail to become a Medical Doctor in Nigeria or Spain because you could not attend the Medical Schools; do you blame the schools or yourself or the society? I would implore you to give it a try – enrol at any of the schools of thought in the Bible and be taught (transformed) by the greatest Teacher and Mentor in the whole universe – God Himself.

Please note, admission and tuition is free for students, having being paid up by God Himself. And you do not need a particular place, space, time, people or pastor to begin – just ask God to start with you from wherever you are at anytime of the day, week, month or even year. So, what are you waiting for? Jump forward and become identified with wisdom, honour, power, riches, glory, blessing and strength that come with true personal transformation in the schools of thought of God for mankind.

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future a hope.”

Jeremiah 29:11

The Bible is compendium of God’s thoughts for mankind – therefore everyone that enrols in the schools of thought of God in the Bible must enjoy a prosperous, secure, honourable, glorious, wise, strong, blessed and strong future. Indeed, our futures are guaranteed only in and by the Word of God – Indeed, man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.

Stay in and with God – remain ever fresh and flourishing in His awesome presence. God bless you richly!
