Good day and welcome to another exciting episode of Life Treatment™ where we treat life issues so that we can step into our prophetic destinies. My name is Lara Gboyega Adedeji. I'm so excited to have you join me on another episode of life treatment and today, quickly, we are diving into what we have on this episode. We are looking at something that has become like a trend and has become a pattern for living for many people. And it's actually a life issue; it's a serious one! If you would agree with me, some of us have towed this line of hatred and hate that we have made it a life style. And it's actually a life-threatening issue. And that's why today we are looking at HATRED or you can call it HATE.
What does it mean when you are working in hate or hatred? It means that you have intense dislike for someone or something. Now I am going to just give a disclaimer quickly here. It's fair enough if you hate something. Now when we talk about hatred what does it mean? It means you have intense dislike for something or someone. It means that you detest that thing or that person. It means you abhor, you abominate, you loath at the person or at that thing.
When we are talking about hatred, you could have hatred for character traits in people, you could hate the behavior of people, but you should not hate the person. It's so unfortunate that many people have decided to live their lives in hate or hatred. Because we have intense dislike for human beings like us that we did not create. You can’t just stand the person. It’s fine that you cannot stand the behavior of the person, it's fine that you can't stand the character of the person. But when you hate the individual, then there is a problem.
There are things we must love and there are things we must hate. But we must love all people. We can hate things, characters, behaviors, we can hate attitudes, but we must not hate people. Now, I want to go quickly to Proverbs 8:13 and see what the Bible says here. It says; "the fear of the Lord is to hate evil" So it's fine to hate evil because you fear God. But it says "pride and arrogance and the evil way, and the perverse mouth I hate.” I hate the perverse mouth, but I don’t hate the person. So, we must be able to draw the line here, between the attitude, the character, the behavior and the person.
I want you to go with me to 1 John 2:9-11. It says: “He who says he is in the light, and hates his brother” Now he is talking about the person. It says “and hates his brother, is in darkness until now.” You can't hate and be in light. So, when you hate a person, you are in darkness. You can hate the character, behavior or attitude but you don't hate the person. “He who loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no cause for stumbling in him. 11 But he who hates his brother is in darkness.” The reason many people are struggling is because of hatred. You have such intense dislike; you have abominated people so much that you have started walking in darkness. You are gradually sliding into darkness and it's gradually affecting and coloring the things around you.
“But he who hates his brother is in darkness and walks in darkness” that's where you are living; you are living in darkness because of your hatred. “And does not know where he is going." You are lost. Anyone in hatred of persons is lost. Because darkness has blinded his eyes. Don't be blinded by darkness of hatred. You can hate things, you can hate evil behavior, you can hate sin but differentiate the sin from the sinner. You must learn to differentiate the sin from the sinner. Because you love God you must hate evil, you must hate falsehood, you must hate sin, but you must be able to differentiate the sin from the sinner. God hates the sin but he loves the sinner and if we will behave like God, in the light of His word, then we should love the sinners and hate, abhor, dislike intensely the sin.
We must be able to clearly demarcate this. In your life journey, for you to walk in light, you must stop this hatred. Stop hatred of people and that's why I am emphasizing on this. You can hate behaviors and attitudes, you can hate sin, but don't hate the sinner, don't hate the person. We are called all to love one another, you can't afford to build a mountain of hatred in your heart for people. You will not be able to walk in the fullness of the life that you are supposed to express here on earth. That is why it's so important, it's so vital that we treat this life issue today. Stop the hatred, don't allow hatred for persons to find root in your heart. You can hate attitudes, characters and behaviors and hate sin but please demarcate the difference between the person and the attitude. So that you can be free of hatred, so that you can live the life that you have been called to live.
I believe that you have been able to glean wisdom on this episode of life treatment and you will start walking in love because the treatment for hatred is love. You must love people. You are called to love people because you love God. When you love God it's easy for you to love people no matter who they are and what they are doing. Love the person but hate the sin.
Thank you for staying tuned with me on this episode of life treatment. God bless you.
