According to the dictionary, to gnash is to bring your top and bottom teeth together quickly. In another instance, it says, to gnash is to grind (one's teeth) together as a sign of anger (often used hyperbolically). The question is, why do people gnash? Do people gnash in their state of ecstasy or pleasure; or do people gnash in great displeasure?
then you will begin to say, ‘We ate and drank in Your presence, and You taught in our streets.’ 27 But He will say, ‘I tell you I do not know you, where you are from. Depart from Me, all you workers of iniquity.’ 28 There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, and yourselves thrust out.
Luke 13:26-28
Perhaps, that statement emphasied above seem more like "story – story" to you; I have decided to share my own story with you, perhaps you might reconsider your stand about the REALITY of hell. The question you must ask is, why was weeping joined with gnashing of teeth if the two are unrelated. Just around 10:40 AM GMT in Abuja Nigeria; I had to move out of building I had been into another building within the same compound. In that short moment, I found myself "GNASH THE TEETH" unconsciously and involuntarily. One thing was clear to me, the SUN was so scorching on my skin that I CAUGHT myself gnashing my own teeth; and immediately, I remembered what the Bible says about the experience in hell – how anyone who goes there would perpertually gnash his or her teeth.
In the short moment, which I tag, "Hellish Moment" that I had to cross the two buidlings; I noticed how quickly I walked in order to limit or reduce the suffering inflicted on me by the intensity of the heat of the sun. I therefore, feel impressed to share my own short "HELLISH MOMENT" with you – really, since we are all living under the sun, you could have had your own fair share of the intensity of the sun; but I want you to reflect on how painful HELL would actually be – a place no one can swiftly walk out from, an eternal place of torment and discomfort. My sincere prayer is that you will not partake in that death in hell, which is called the second death in Jesus name.
If you are not sure of where you would end up in eternity after your blessed or challenging moments on earth; I want to use this opportunity I have to guide you into a new experience of peace and fulfillment in Christ Jesus. Would you say these words of prayer with me:
Lord Jesus, I confess to you that I have sinned against God – in the rebellion of my heart, I have disappointed your expectations on my life. I have fallen from grace and followed wrong influences. Today, I retrace my steps back to you – and I ask that in your mercy you accept me as your son and give to me the promise of the Father – the Holy Spirit. Lord Jesus, please, come and make my heart your home, and from there rule in the affairs of all men. In Jesus Name I have prayed.
Guess what, if you had said all that sincerely from your heart, you are saved. See how the Bible puts it:
that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Romans 10:9
