Effective Leadership: Where Is Justice In The Land?

One of the certain things about leadership among many varying thoughts or definitions is that leadership is about the people. Without the people, there can be no leadership. If the people have no need for liberation, comfort, healing, provision, support, direction, protection and knowledge; then, there will be no leadership of any form – be it political, religious, organizational or communal.

Leaders are required for the sake of the people, for the welfare of the people, and for the good of the people. It is because of the needs of the people that God set leaders over them – to meet them at the points of their needs, which means bringing justice to the people. It is the responsibility of the leadership to give the people what they deserve. Should a leadership therefore preoccupy itself with every other matter except giving the people their desires and the things they deserve, such a leadership isn't an effective one.

Let us consider this Scripture together,

"In transgressing and lying against the LORD, and departing from our God, speaking oppression and revolt, conceiving and uttering from the heart words of falsehood. Justice is turned back, and righteousness stands afar off; for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter.
So truth fails, and he who departs fro  evil makes himself a prey.
Then the LORD saw it, and it displeased Him that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor; therefore His own arm brought salvation for Him; and His own righteousness, it sustained Him."

Isaiah 59:13-16

If you consider the words of that Scripture, you would accept that what was a reality then, is now a reality among us today. People are transgressing, lying, speaking oppression and revolt – depending on the side a person is. Take for instance, so many people shout revolt before they are given leadership roles in the society, and the same people end up oppressing their own people. People lie about and steal public funds. The money that should be deployed to arrest the poverty, ill health, unemployment & fraud among a people  (population) is diverted or stolen by a tiny people at the expense of the welfare, security and comfort of the people. This is a scenario where justice is missing in a land!

The message from God is that He is displeased with the prevailing injustice in the land. He is looking for men and women of values and virtues to rise up and speak up for the return of justice in our communities, cities, countries and world. Enough of bloodshed in the name of ethnic cleansing, enough of this unemployment and this shameful disrespect of human dignity that overwhelms our social fabric.

If the right people continue to keep quiet, there will still be no justice in the land. It is only by speaking up! Let us not rest until justice returns. When will people in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, South Africa and even United States get what they really deserve. Why it is difficult for men and women in leadership positions to do the right things. Behold, the LORD God of heaven, who also rules over the affairs of men on earth is seeing the prevailing injustice across societies and He will visit His people with His own arm. The LORD will bring His people out of the captivity of these few men and women  across the women – and He will judge the poor, wounded, afflicted, oppressed and deceived with fairness and equity says the Spirit of the LORD.
