Why Was Jesus Buried After His Crucifixion?: The Secret of The Burial of Jesus Finally FOUND OUT

The purpose of this video is to find an answer to that very important question: Why was Jesus buried? We have looked at why Jesus was killed. But in this video, we want to consider why Jesus was buried. Is there any significance to that action or to that event that took place several thousands of years ago? In this video, I believe we are going to find an answer and if you're interested in getting to know why Jesus was buried, why He didn't just die, but He had to be buried. If you're interested in finding an answer to that question, then this video is meant for you. So, let's quickly go into it.

Starting with the book of Genesis chapter three, there's something that is important for us to know as a foundation to finding the real reason why Jesus was buried. Genesis chapter three, and I'll lead from verse thirteen. See what the Bible says:

And the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.” 14 So the Lord God said to the serpent: “Because you have done this, You are cursed more than all cattle, And more than every beast of the field; On your belly you shall go, And you shall eat dust All the days of your life. 15 And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.”

Looking at these few verses, something is very important. Shortly after Eve and her husband did what God asked them not to do, God visited them, and the judgment of God began to unfold. God asked the woman, why did you do this? And she said, it was the serpent. And because of that, God judged the serpent. However, God made something very clear. God said from that particular moment henceforth, there's going to be an enmity, there's going to be a rivalry, a battle that is going to be activated between the woman and the serpent. They will never agree again, the two will always fight. However, it would not end with the two of them, not just the woman and the serpent, but the seed of the woman and the seed of the serpent.

In fact, God said, the seed of the woman will bruise the head of the serpent, while the serpent will bruise the heel of the seed of the woman. Now, looking at that, the first thing that we want to look at is: why did God mentioned the seed of the woman? Why didn't God say, the child of the woman, the son of the woman, the daughter of the woman? Why did God say the seed? There's something important about that word, seed that connect with what we're looking at in this video. We are asking that important question: Why was Jesus buried?

One thing you must understand about seeds is that they usually have to be buried. You don't look at a seed so much and cherish it so much and wish it so much good luck and yet expecting it to start growing or manifesting while being on your hand. It wouldn't happen. If a seed has to grow, if a seed has to become a tree that produces many other seeds, that seed necessarily must be sown or the seed must be buried. And this is where it connects with Jesus. The Bible says the seed of the woman would bruise the head of the serpent. So, there is a responsibility for the seed. However, just like every other seed, that seed of the woman must necessarily be buried, must necessarily be sown.

There is another Scripture that I want us to look at in Philippians chapter 2 and we'll read from verse 5-8. The Bible says:

“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, 7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.”

So, be found as a man, He necessarily had to die. Because it is appointed to every man to die once and after that, there is judgment. And been found as a man, He needed to also be subjected to the law of sin and death. Do you understand what's going on? And we have realized that our goal is to know why Jesus was buried, you must understand that nobody with a sound mind can bury someone else alive, you bury the people that you believe they're dead. So, for Jesus to be buried He needed to die. Don’t forget, even though it looks like the cross is very important, being crucified on that tree was very important for Jesus, in this video, our goal is to look at the critical role of the burial of Jesus in the overall agenda of God. God sent Him to die and to be buried knowing fully well that it is expected for a seed to be buried or to be sown for that seed to produce much more.

Let's go to the book of John chapter 12 and we'll read from verse 23. See what the Bible says. But Jesus answered them, saying, “The hour has come that the Son of Man should be glorified…” Don't forget, the Bible already says that the seed of the woman. Now, the seed of the woman had to be a son. Now, being the son of man and the son of the woman, the son of both the man and the woman, look at what the Bible says. Jesus said, the Hour has come that the Son of Man… another way of putting it is the seed of the woman; should be glorified. Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain. 25 He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. 26 If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also. If anyone serves Me, him My Father will honor.

Now, our emphasis is on verse 24. John chapter 12:24. It says; most assuredly like definitely, this cannot be mistaken or cannot go wrong. I say to you, unless a grain of wheat… a grain of wheat is a seed of wheat, except a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone. But if it dies, it produces much grain. So, this really reveals to us at this point, the real intent of God for ensuring that Jesus was not only killed, that Jesus was buried. The goal of God is that should Jesus be buried, then there is of having many more like Jesus produced by Jesus for God. Do you understand that? Except the grain of wheat falls down! So, Jesus like a grain of wheat, He was killed, He was buried, so that He will not be alone.

Another place that I want us to look at is the book of Matthew 27 from verse 50. It says: And Jesus cried out again…this is Jesus while He was on the tree in the process of Him being crucified.  And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit. 51 Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split, 52 and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; 53 and coming out of the graves after His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many.

Now, a picture of what God has ordained took place at that point. Shortly after Jesus died, the Bible says the graves were opened and many people that had fallen asleep, that had died, the Bible says the resurrected and eventually they appeared to many people. So, that's to help us to realize that indeed, except a grain of wheat falls down and die, it abides alone. Jesus knowing this and that is why He was never afraid of death. He was never scared of dying, whether it is going to be death on the cross or any kind of death. He was never afraid because He knew it that until He dies, He gets buried, there is no chance for many people to be raised up onto God in glory.

So, for us at this point who are curious as to why was Jesus buried, Jesus was buried, not because He was just killed and He had to be buried, No! He was buried because He needed to multiply. He was buried because He needed to use that opportunity as a means of raising people, many other people unto God. Look at that popular Scripture in Philippians chapter 3:10. See what the Bible says: That I may know him… This is Apostle Paul speaking… that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, if by any means I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.

Now, this is what happened! The moment Jesus died, Apostle Paul said it in Galatians 2:20, “I am crucified with Christ Jesus, nevertheless I live yet not I. The life that I live in the flesh, I live it by faith in the Son of God who loves me and gave Himself for me.” So why it's important for us to experience that death with Christ, dying with Christ on the cross, beyond that, we must necessarily experience the resurrection from the dead with Him. And that's what takes place during baptism. When a man is immersed into the water, the experience is likened to a man dying with Christ. And when the man is pulled out of water, that means the man is rising up with Christ. That's the purpose of the death and the burial of Jesus Christ, that when Jesus is raised from the dead, that He may be raised up onto God with many other people.

The goal is not for Him to just be raised up to Himself. He was buried, and the goal is to resurrect Him as a means to raise up other people who have been long buried in whatever form and have been rotten over the years. See what that Scripture showed us in Matthew. Many people who were fast asleep long time ago, they were raised up. And that's what God intended for us in Christ Jesus, that by the death and the burial, and ultimately the resurrection of Jesus, we who were once dead with Him, we may be alive onto Him in righteousness.

Now, rounding up in this particular episode, I want us to quickly read Revelation of chapter 5 from verse 10-12. The Bible says:

And have made us kings and priests to our God;
And we shall reign on the earth.”

11 Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne, the living creatures, and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands, 12 saying with a loud voice:

“Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
To receive power and riches and wisdom,
And strength and honor and glory and blessing!”

Worthy is the lamb who was slain! Now, when He was slain, He was not just slain. He was actually buried. Now, He was buried because He was expected to receive… Worthy is the lamb who was slain to receive. So, the goal of His death was ultimately that He may be buried and that He may be raised up on to God and when He's raised up, He may be raised up with glory, with power with honor, with strength, with wisdom, with riches. And haven been raised up by God, remember the Bible that says if the Spirit of Him that raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, that Spirit will also quicken your mortal body. By the Holy Spirit, each one of us were expected to have opportunity to connect with the things that Jesus who was slain to receive. It is the love of God that was slain, and He was not just slain because God had nothing to do. He was slain because of us.

Now, there is something that I wrote and I want to quickly read for us. Jesus, the seed of the woman, was sown into the depths of the earth to raise many from nothingness or emptiness to glory. It is because of us that He was slain and yet, much more, it is because of us that He was buried. Remember, except a grain of wheat falls down and die, it abides alone. Because God was not content with only Christ Jesus as a son, because God wanted many sons to be raised up unto glory, Jesus was buried. The burial of Jesus is a secret that is only made known to us by the Holy Spirit. Jesus was not just buried; He was buried as a seed that has been sown.

So, don't forget that when you bury a seed, after a few moments, the seed is expected to start rising up. And for Jesus, on the third day, He was raised by the Spirit of God and never have to die anymore. The power over death, the power that the Satan, that the serpent stole from Adam and Eve at Eden, Jesus recovered when He was buried. It was because of His burial that He went down to hell. And He went to withdraw. He went to retrieved from Satan the things he stole from humanity. Now in Christ Jesus, haven been resurrected, we have access to everything that pertains to life and godliness.

So, you don't have to continue to mourn that Jesus was buried. Don't forget, on the third day, he was raised by the Holy Spirit. The same is true for you because God is willing to also raise you up unto glory if you believe in Christ Jesus, that indeed, He was killed and He was buried for your sake and He had resurrected for your redemption, for your restoration unto honor, unto power, unto glory, unto strength, unto blessing, unto wisdom and riches. It is for your glory. And I pray that as you connect with the burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, your life will not remain the same again in Jesus’ name, amen.
