In this piece, we will be sharing together God’s word, by the help of the Holy Spirit. He will be teaching us on what has been titled: Elohim Adonai: The Lord of the Harvest. We are going to start our observation from Genesis 8:22, God speaking after He made a covenant with the earth and with creation. In verse 22, He said; “While the earth remains seed time and harvest, cold and heat, winter and summer and day and night shall not cease.” Now, if we know Elohim, it talks about the creative divinity of God. Elohim in the Hebrew language means God. And breaking it down, understanding it, it helps us to understand the creative divinity of God. God is the one that makes things out of nothing. The Bible says God calling the things that be not as though they exist. Meaning that God has a creative ability that makes Him God. The only deity in all the heavens and the earth that can create and it so.
So, we are looking at the Lord God, Elohim Adonai. Adonai talks about the Lordship of God. The authority the Lord God has that makes Him the owner. So, when God is laying claim to something that He owns it, He is not saying it because He wants to deprive the owner of it, He is only establishing and stamping His authority. He is the owner; He is the Lord.
So, we are looking at Elohim, the deity- God! He is the owner; He is the Lord. And what makes Him the Lord of the harvest? Our focus in the Lordship of God, is ownership right, that authority, that audacity to stamp His right on the harvest of creation. That’s what we will be looking at in this pience by the help of the Holy Spirit. Adonai talks about the exalted position and authority of God as Lord, as the owner.
So, when we call Him Elohim Adonai we are calling Him the Lord, the owner, the one that has authority to own all things as the supreme ruler of all universe. And how does He have that authority to own? We are going to look at Matthew 9 where Jesus mentioned Him as the Lord of the harvest. Matthew 9, and we will start our reading from verse 36, and then we will stop at verse 38. “But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were [j]weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. 37 Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few.
Jesus saw the multitude, because we must understand the context in which Jesus mentioned the Lord, Adonai as the Lord of the harvest. He said when He saw the multitude, when He saw creation, when He saw the world, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary, meaning they were frustrated. They were tired and they were scattered. They were everywhere and He described them as sheep without a shepherd. Meaning they are not supposed to be a sheep without a shepherd.
Verse 37, “Then Jesus said to His disciples, the harvest” what is the harvest He is talking about? Who are the harvest? The world, the earth, the multitude. He said the harvest is plentiful. What He saw and described as harvest in verse 37 is the multitude. Remember when He saw the multitude, He had compassion on them. He was moved towards them. See how a people can be without a shepherd; weary and scattered. Then He said to His disciples, the harvest of this scattered multitude, the harvest of these weary multitude is plentiful, is a lot, its much. But the laborers are few. “Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”
Not the Lord of a harvest, the Lord of the harvest, to send laborers into His harvest. We want to unbundle that verse. Jesus said to His disciples, pray the Lord, He didn’t call Him God of the harvest. He called Him the Lord of the harvest. Meaning that He owns the harvest. Reiterating that He said to send out laborers into His harvest. So, Jesus was making us to understand verse 36, that when He saw the multitude, when He saw the weary and scattered people, He qualified them to be God’s harvest.
He said the harvest is plentiful, He didn’t say the multitude are plentiful. He said the harvest. Meaning that the principal harvest of God is people. The principal harvest of God, that makes Him the Lord of the harvest is souls, or are souls. That’s the principal harvest of God. And the Bible says that He is the Lord of His harvest. He is the owner of the harvest. So, what is our role in the harvest? He said pray the Lord of the harvest to send laborers. So, in the harvest if God, our roles as believers, as children of God is that we are laborers, He is the owner of the harvest.
In Genesis 8:22, God created, holds and institutes the harvest. And God created a system that makes harvest possible. God didn’t just say see, every time you wake up, you will see a harvest, every time you go around you will see a harvest. No! God created a system that produces harvest. What is the system? He called it seed time. So, in Genesis chapter 8 verse 22 the Bible makes us to understand that God said while the earth remains I am making a proclamation, I am creating a system, I am creating an order, I am creating something that will continue to exist as long as the earth remains. And He said while the earth remains, seed time and harvest, cold and heat, winter and summer will not cease to be operational.
So, God created the seasons and He owns the season. Just like you can call Him the Lord of the summer. With confidence you can call Him the Lord of the winter, we can call Him the Lord of the seed time, we can call Him the Lord of the harvest. But why is this harvest so important? Why is this harvest our consideration in this article? It is because when Jesus was speaking about the harvest; He spoke of our roles as believers in making sure that the harvest of God is possible on the earth. He said the harvest is plentiful but the laborers are few. Meaning that; for God to command His harvest, there is a need for a people called the laborers. I want to show us a Scripture in Revelations chapter 14, so that we would understand that God is actually the Lord of the harvest so that every time we talking about harvest, they mean different things at different times, but He is still the Lord of the harvest.
Revelations 14 we are reading verse 15 of that chapter. Let’s start our reading from verse 14; “Then I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.’” Yes,” says the Spirit, “that they may rest from their labors, and their works follow them.” The reason we are reading this intentionally is because this helps us to understand the next verses we are reading. Then I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord. Understand that it is not all the dead, but the dead that died in the Lord, From now on.’” Yes,” says the Spirit, “that they may rest from their labors. So, while they are alive, they are to labor. That’s why Jesus was saying in that Matthew that we read, that pray that the Lord of the harvest will send laborers. So, believers and men and women that are in the Lord are the laborers. So, in this verse it says that they may rest from their labors and their works. The result of their labor is called works. And it said this works will be what will follow the; their result, evidence, proof, fruitfulness will follow them.
Verse 14; “Then I looked, and behold, a white cloud, and on the cloud sat One like the Son of Man, having on His head a golden crown, and in His hand a sharp sickle. What do you use sickle for? To harvest, to reap. So, the Bible says Jesus was seen in a cloud and He sat on that cloud, and He had a golden crown on His head and a sharp sickle. Verse 15, And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to Him who sat on the cloud, “Thrust in Your sickle and reap, for the time has come for You to reap, for the harvest of the earth is ripe.” Was it talking about bananas and oranges? It says the harvest of the earth. The same thing He was speaking about in Matthew chapter 9.
The harvest is plentiful but the laborers are few. He said thrust in the sickle, for the time has come, for you to reap, talking about Christ. For the harvest of the earth is ripe. 16 So He who sat on the cloud thrust in His sickle on the earth, and the earth was reaped.” The whole earth was reaped by Christ. So, this is the ultimate harvest that will take place. The harvest of the earth. But there was a harvest that Jesus was speaking about in Matthew 9, that the harvest that is plentiful, that our labors must be focused on; it is the harvest of souls. Harvest of the weary and scattered multitude. So, if we say we love God, if we say we are passionate about God, if we say God what is your desire, what is your will for me, it is that you join the labor of His harvest.
The desire of God is that you and I will become co laborers with Christ. The labor of the earth, the harvest of the earth is Christ’s. Christ owns it. Because ultimately, He will be the one to reap the earth/. But before the time comes for Him to reap the earth, you and I have a role to play in Christ on the earth, and that is to reap the ripe harvest. How do we do this? How do we make this possible? This is the ultimate goal of God. That’s why the Bible says to us that heaven rejoices over one soul that repents, that is harvested. Because, He is the Lord of the harvest. For every harvest, He is excited, for every harvest, He rejoices, for every harvest He is glad and pleased.
This is the heart beat of God. So, when we are praying Lord let your kingdom come, let your will be done on earth as it is done in heaven, it is because the will of God is that the harvest does not go to waste. When fruits get ripe to a point what happens? They begin to rotten. And God is a business man, He hates waste. That’s why when He said to the one with one talent, if you had known that you will waste this one talent, you could have given it to those that trade, the bankers, they what to do with it. You should not have allowed it to go to waste by burying it. And that’s why we are going to look at very quickly; why is the Lord; Elohim Adonai the Lord of the harvest, and what is He giving to us?
Because, we must understand Genesis 8 verse 22, as long as the earth remains, seed time and harvest shall not cease. You can’t talk about harvest without talking about seed time, because it is seed time that produces harvest. So, we want to look at it, why does God make seed time possible for us? It is so that He become the Lord of the harvest. Isaiah 55, we are going to read from verse 6. It says:
“Seek the LORD while He may be found, “Call upon Him while He is near. 7 Let the [b]wicked forsake his way, And the unrighteous man his thoughts; Let him return to the Lord, And He will have mercy on him; And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon.8 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord.9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.10 “For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, And do not return there, But water the earth, And make it bring forth and bud, That it may give seed to the sower And bread to the eater,11 So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me [c]void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”
Now, we are going to mediate quickly on that verse 8 to verse 11, God said; “my thoughts” the way I think is different from the way you are thinking. The way I do my things, my ways are different from yours. And He now gave an example, He said as the heaven, my realm is higher than your realm. Remember that the highest heavens belong to God and the earth He has given to the children of men. His throne is in heaven, and the earth He has given to us the children of men. He now made a comparison of how He thoughts are different from ours and His ways are different from ours. That the things I do in heaven, the way heaven is ordered, the way heaven is structured, the way I rule and have preeminence in heaven is different from how it is on the earth. He said that’s how my thoughts is different from your thoughts and your ways than my ways.
Then He now gave an example in verse 10, it says as the rain comes down and the snow; from where? Heaven! And they do not return there, I want us to understand this Scriptures patiently, but water the earth. Let me take that Scripture again; For as the rain comes down; not from the earth, from heaven. The snow comes down from heaven and waters. And they don’t return there again; but waters the earth, and makes it produce, and now gives seed to the sower. Now, for you to have a harvest, what is the prequalification? That seed is sown. But how does the seed come about? God was given an example He said it’s like the rain. The seed is like the rain. It does not come from the earth; it comes from heaven. And the seed dos not return back to heaven where it came from.
The seed is released to the earth and causes a harvest. And when it causes a harvest, it makes bread available to the eater. It goes beyond the realm of seed to the sower, to giving bread. God was using an example that people were familiar with. They were used to eating bread, bread was like their staple food in that economy. When they plant wheat or barley, when wheat is planted, what is planted is the seed of the wheat. And when the wheat grows you cannot use the seed of the wheat to produce bread. It has to be the harvest of the wheat. So, you use the harvest of the wheat to produce bread that is able to be eaten. God said that is what happens when there is an interaction between heaven and earth.
I give you a harvest, not of what you produce, but of what I release. That is why it is called the Lord of the harvest. He owns the seed, so He owns the harvest. Whatever you did with the seed while He gave it to you, anything that comes out of it is the harvest. That is what the servant with one talent did not understand. Do you know in his own limited understanding he was correct? He said I know my master; he loves to reap where he has not sown. He is a shrewd man, I know him, I know his ways, we will labor, then when the result comes he will collect it and decides whatever he wants to do with it. Unfortunately, the same way we believers are acting today. Forgetting that who gave the initial seed of the talent was the master.
The servant produced no seed of his own. There would have been nothing to trade with if He was not given. Because that is how God gives seed to the sower. There is nothing that you have that you have not received. There is nothing that you own that was not first given to you by the Lord. That is why He is the Lord of the harvest. He gives the seed. The children that you said they are yours today, who gave the seed? Who made it possible? God! That is why He has the authority to own it. The Bible says the earth is the Lords and the fullness thereof. The chicken you killed who created it? Whether you gave it feed or not the DNA of that chicken or hen came from God. He is the giver of all good things. He gave the seed, that is why He is the Lord of the harvest. There is nothing you own that you can never deny God because the seed came from Him. And that’s why the Bible is making us to understand that this is the process that gives birth and produces everything in our lives. Everything around us, He is the Lord of the harvest.
Every seed came from Him. There is no man, no scientist that has been able to produce a seed. What makes God the Lord of the harvest is because He is the giver of the seed. From generation to generation, every scientist yet unborn, none of them can craft or make a seed. God is the giver of the seed. And that’s why He used that as an example, then verse 11, making us to understand that He made the things that visible out of the things that are invisible. Because until we come to terms with that just like John chapter 1 verse 1 to 6 made us to understand that the things that are made were made of the things not seen. That in Him the word came everything; there is nothing that was made outside Him, all things were made through Him.
God now introducing us to that mystery saying in verse 11, “So shall my word be that goes forth from my mouth.” The word that goes forth from my mouth is a seed. The word that goes forth from my mouth that makes you the husband of that woman, that makes you the wife of that man is a seed. And whatever that union produces, He is the Lord of that harvest. If we sit down as believers and truly think we will never behave like the world. We will know that we and the world have nothing in common. As light is in clear distinction from darkness, as God has nothing to do with Belial, that is how distinguished our lives are from unbelievers. Because we understand that from the foundation of the world our worlds have been framed by the word of God.
There is nothing that is made possible in our lives outside the instruction of the word of God. The Bible makes us to understand in Isaiah 11 verse 4. “But with righteousness He shall judge the poor, and decides with equity for the meek of the earth, He shall strike the earth with the rod of His mouth, what will He use to strike the earth? He said it’s not physical rod, the rod of His mouth, those are words. With His words, He will strike the earth. And the earth will not recover. And it said with the breath of His lips He shall slay the wicked.
Isaiah 55 we are going back there it says so shall my word be, because my word is a seed, that goes forth from my mouth, it shall not return to me empty. As long as the earth remains, seed time and harvest shall not cease. When I am sending my word, seed time, when I am releasing my counsel concerning you, seed time. There will be a harvest. Because He has commanded it so. So, before the foundation of the world was laid, God commanded it so. Before your grand fathers were born in Genesis 22, He commanded it so. That while the earth remains seed time and harvest will not cease.
It said it shall not return to me void but shall accomplish what I please. I want us to note that. Meaning that; when God says that it shall be well with you, it is a seed. But it will not accomplish what you please, it shall accomplish what the Lord pleases. When God says none shall lack her mate, that word will not accomplish what you please, it will accomplish what I please. When I saw this it humbled me. When the seed of God is released and you believe it, you can’t determine the harvest, He is the Lord of the harvest. Do you think Jesus would have wanted to die on the cross? Given a choice? Do you think Jesus would have chosen the death on the cross? No! because the word that went forth was not about Him.
The prophecy was not about Him; it was about the pleasure of the Lord of the harvest. It would accomplish what I-Elohim Adonai pleases. And it shall prosper in the thing for which I; not you, but ‘I’ sent it. I am the Lord of the harvest, the seed is mine, the harvest is also mine whatever quantity, whatever body I want the harvest to come in, that’s the body I have given seed. When Mary encountered the word, Angel Gabriel came with a salutation, even though Mary would have wanted a beautiful girl as her first born, it was not according to what she pleases but according to what He pleased. He said a son will be born of you, the holy One, His name will be called Jesus, even if you would want a baby girl, that’s not what it pleases.
It’s a son. So, we understand by this that our lives are not our own. You don’t own this life; you are a word spoken forth from the mouth of the Lord of the Harvest-Elohim Adonai. When you come on the earth, you came from Him, from heaven. You will not return back to Him empty, until you fulfill, until you accomplish what He pleases and you prosper in the thing. There are not many things; in the thing that I have sent it. He is the Lord of the harvest. So, there is nothing the God wants you to become that you will not become, because the seed is from Him, He gives you a body but what happens that people alter, or go out of God’s plan as the Lord of the harvest? They change the seed. Remember the seed is the word, and as long as that word is alive, and that word is active, the body of that seed will be the harvest that will come from it.
But what happens when the seed is altered? That’s what the devil wants. When Jesus was giving a parable, He said there was a vine yard where wheat was planted and when they finished planting, they went to sleep; and the enemy came and sowed tares in the midst of the wheat. And it said and the tares started growing as the wheat were growing. The same nutrients of the same land, the tares were enjoying, the wheat were struggling and they came to the owner and said let us destroy the tares from the midst of these wheat, He said no wait till harvest. Because He is the Lord of the harvest. He said wait till harvest let the tares and the wheat grow together, when the harvest will come, the wheat will be stored up in the barn and the tares will be burned up. Giving us a picture of tomorrow, of the future.
Anyone that allows himself to be a seed in the hand of the devil, they will grow on this same earth, they will have children but the harvest. When the Lord of the harvest will make the decision. He will say I know the seeds that I sow. This is not my seed; this does not look like me. That’s why the Bible says in the last day, when the king sits enthroned, it said the sheep will be on the right, and the goats to the left. And He will say to those on the left; I don’t know you. you don’t carry my DNA; you don’t carry my seed. When harvest comes, God will know those that are His. There are some fallacies and blasphemies going on in the body of Christ and in the world. That after all everybody is flourishing and getting blessed. It is about the seed and the harvest.
When the harvest comes, the king the son of man that will sit on the throne will judge. That’s why He said; He prayed a prayer, He said every tree that My Father has not planted. Meaning that my Father plant trees, He sows seeds on the earth. Every tree that my Father has not planted, shall be rooted up nothing will be left of it, no memory. Because what we are doing on the earth is rehearsals for eternity. Whether you are living for God, representing Him, loving Him, enjoying and practicing as a citizen of the kingdom, it will show. That’s why when we read that Revelations chapter 14 it said blessed are those who die in the Lord, it said because they have rested from their labor and their works will follow them, meaning that they did not really die.
He is the Lord of the harvest because He gives seeds. What are the kinds of seeds that God gives? John chapter 6 verse 44. We are going to round up with this; we are going to look at 5 seeds that the Lord gives. It is not exhaustible; some other things will be captured within them.
John chapter 6 and verse 44. “No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day.” I want to read it in the Amplified Version. It says; “No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him–how does He draw Him? The seed of God; through His seed, His word. [giving him the desire to come to Me]. So, when we look at the unbelieving, and say how comes you cannot see that there is light in Jesus, how comes you cannot see that your life will be better in Him, Jesus said no one is able, even though they want to, but they are not able to come unless the Father, the one that gives seed who sent me attracts and draws him and gives him the desire to come to me, and I will raise him up [from the dead] on the last day.” So, the harvest of souls is as a result of seeds that God plants. Until God gives a body to that seed there can’t be a harvest. Jesus said no one is able, no soul is harvestable except the seed of that soul is planted by the Lord.
What is our role as laborers? To make sure that as many people that as possible becomes the seeds of God. Until they become seeds they can’t be His harvest. So, how do we makes sure they become seeds? See what He said to us; until He attracts and draws them by the word. So, as we are praying and laboring in the place of prayers, what are we doing? We are causing a spiritual attraction. You want to win souls for God, you want to attract the nations for Him, but are you praying for the nations? Are you laboring that there is a spiritual attraction for God in that nation? As waters covers the earth the knowledge of the Lord will cover the earth as waters the sea. It’s a prophecy that God has declared aforetime. We are the laborers of that prophecy. We can make it possible for God. We, in the place of prayer can create that spiritual attraction where altering of DNA can happen. It’s in the Spirit, it’s on our knees. The Bible says the god of this age has blinded their eyes.
They don’t find God attractive. Because they refused to retain the knowledge of God in their heart He gave them up to reprobate minds making them to do things that are not convenient. How can people be weary and scattered and the feel they are living. When Jesus was looking at them, He was looking at them spiritually not physically. They in themselves feel they are ok, but Jesus knew they were not ok. He was seeing a weary and scattered people. And they felt they were orderly. That’s when He was speaking to that church in Revelations, He said you think that you are rich but you are actually poor, you think you can see but you are blind, that the true spiritual state. But how can these things be unraveled and these people become seeds of God. Through spiritual exercise. We as laborers of God laboring to make sure that the harvest is possible, making sure there is an attraction in the spirit.
The second seed that God gives is that God gives seed to the sower and bread to the eater. I want us to see 2 Corinthians 9 and verse 10. “Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness” Yesterday we were talking about the way of righteousness, it is something to do. It is a seed to sow. So He said; may He who supplies seed; who is the He? Elohim Adonai. God! May He who supplies seed to sow, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness. God supplies our righteous standing with Him in Christ Jesus. The Bible says in John 3 verse 16 that for God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life. In Christ we have become the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.
We are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. God supplied the Seed-Christ! That gave us the harvest of righteousness. That you and I have that right standing in God and can produce good works according to righteousness is because He has given us the seed. You could say I always love the Lord, I just find myself excited to do good works, I am excited to honor people, honor God, to love; don’t think it’s out of your own strength. It is because the seed has been sown. That harvest that you are excited about is a product of the seed that God has sown. So, we have harvest of righteousness because God has planted the seed of righteousness. Christ! So, we must be thankful and we must work out our salvation with fear and with trembling that’s the labor that is required in this. Our salvation is what we have now obtained in Christ as righteousness with fear and trembling, making sure that we produce works, fruits of righteousness.
That God can benefit from the harvest of the seed of Christ. When you and I become Christ on the earth, when we walk in the way of righteousness, we now make sure that God has the harvest of righteousness. God you planted the seed in Christ, we are the harvest of that righteousness. The things we are doing for you on earth, living for you as Christ is the fruit pf that righteousness.
Number three; God helps us to harvest good things. Galatians chapter 6 verse 7 to 9. “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. 8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. 9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.” God has done good for us by making sure He provides us with an option to sow in the Spirit. That’s why He said those that sow to the flesh, outside Jesus we have no option of how to sow. Every man was sowing in the flesh. Every man was condemned to sowing to the flesh. There was no option elsewhere. But in Christ, God gave us the seed of good works by offering Christ so that we have the option, we have an option available for sowing to the Spirit. And it said whoever sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.
So, God produced a seed of good works that gives the opportunity to harvest good works. And that good works is not our harvest, it is His harvest. That consciousness must always be with us. He is the Lord of the harvest. So, there is nothing you are doing that you will say you are doing God so much favor, the harvest I have been producing for God is my favor to God no! it is His harvest and you are a good servant. My husband was reminding me of a Scripture some days ago, Jesus said there that when you have a servant and you say to the servant stand here this is where I want you to stand, this is what I want you to do, and the servant does it, as the owner, as the Lord, do you now become overly excited? No! what do you say? This is a good and faithful servant, I asked him to stand here and He is standing.
That’s how we are with God. When we do good, it is in the DNA that God has sown. That we should do good. So, our goodness does not shock Him. Your DNA, He is God, He is your Father, He is a good God. So, if you are His son and you are replicating that image, that DNA it’s not a shock. You are doing what you are supposed to do. So, harvest of good works is to God who has given the seed. He has put His DNA in you that produces the result.
Number Four there is harvest of righteousness. We have spoken about that, we can write down Matthew 6:26. Jesus was speaking that if God can give to the birds of the air who do not store in barns, who do not sow or reap, how much more you, you are of more value than the birds. So, because His seed is in you, you have the ability, the opportunity to harvest. You harvest God because God has given us Himself as a seed. In Psalms the Bible says that the children of lion do suffer hunger and lack but those that put their trust, their faith, their confidence, their reliance on God, will not lack anything good why? Your Father is the Lord of the harvest. It said the cattle upon the thousand hills are His, He owns everything, we harvest Him. He has given Himself to us so we have the harvest on the earth of Him. So, anything that you think God is, you can harvest it.
The issue is that we don’t even know God, we have such a limited understanding of God. Because, if you know who God is and God gave Himself to you, you know that what you have to harvest in Him, if you truly sow God in your life is enormous. It is bigger than what your mind can fathom. So, we harvest Him, we harvest life, the life of God because that life has been sown as a seed.
The last one, God gives us the opportunity to harvest obedience. Proverbs 20 verse 4. I will love to read this Jeremiah chapter 5 verse 24. “They do not say in their heart, let us now fear the Lord our God, who gives rain, both the former and the latter, I want us to note that; “who gives rain both the former and the latter in its season. He reserves for us-who are the ‘us’? Those of us that obey Him, those of us that chase after Him. He reserves for us the appointed weeks of the harvest.” He reserves it, God makes harvest possible for those that obey Him. So, what is the seed, what is our labor in this harvest? Obedience! For every harvest, there is a labor dimension to it. And it is the labor that makes us walk into the harvest as a possibility, as a result, as a fruit.
So, everything we have said now there is a labor dimension to it, Jesus said in Matthew chapter 9 verse 38, He said ray the Lord of the harvest that He may send laborers. God has no problem with harvest. Harvest is not a problem to God. It is laborers. Are you ready to labor? As long as you are on the earth, seed time is the time to labor, it’s not a time to sit idle doing nothing. In proverbs the Bible says I pass by the field of a lazy man, He said it is filled with thorns and thistles. Why? Because he refused to labor. And the lives of many believers are like the field of a lazy man. He refused to labor. Until we labor in the time of seed, harvest is not in view. We must commit ourselves to labor, laboring in the place of the word. The Apostles said to themselves we cannot be distributing bread and serving tables, we must commit to the labor that God has given us.
What’s the labor? The ministry of the word and prayer. It is our number one place of labor. If you are a believer and you are not laboring in the place of the word and prayer, you are not ready for the harvest that God is speaking of in this season. There is a harvest coming, He is the Lord of the harvest. He has commanded it so. But God cannot be mocked, whatsoever a man sows, that will He reap. Are we ready for the harvest that the Lord is preparing for us? He has the harvest, in that Jeremiah chapter 36 verse 24, it said He has reserved the weeks for harvest, He has reserved it for us. But what will qualify us for the reserved harvest is that we labor in seed time.
