Among the certainties of life is a time to come and a time to go, a time to be born, and a time to die. A time to start something and a time to stop something. A time to begin and a time to end. The point is, there is always a point of origin for everything and a point of destiny. Everything begins somewhere and everything we end somewhere. The end of everything is its destiny!
When you decide to leave your house for the office, you equally decide your point of origination and your point of destination. You intend to start a trip from your house and end it at your office. That is it! But as simple as that sounds or looks, not everyone who begins ends and not everyone or starts stops – especially at the predetermined end. For so many people, they begin a journey from a point, but due to other matters (outside their planning scope), they do not arrive at their desired destinations. Some either die trying or some simply get distracted and choose to end anywhere else.
Listen To Podcast: 3 Quick Steps To Securing Your Leadership Destiny
Leadership destiny, just like every other destiny is the predetermined, desired or planned end of a leadership journey or experience. While a leader is one who has an influence over a people, and inspires the people towards the accomplishment of a shared vision; the leadership destiny is the point or place where the leader anticipates that he or she would guide a people into.
Should a people be at a point say 56% and a leader inspires a new possibility of say 96%. Should the people and the leader agree to work and walk towards that agreed goal, the point or place where the whole people get to at the end of the journey is the destiny of that leadership. While the vision was 96%, any point that the people arrive at beyond their original 56% is the destiny of the influence over them. That is how far the leader could go with them. The dream of every leader is therefore not joust crafting lofty goals or visions; but securing an enviable destiny. The question then is, how can a leader secure his or her leadership destiny?
- Lead With God in View
- Lead by Covenant
- Lead with A New Name
17 When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am [a]Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless. 2 And I will make My covenant between Me and you, and will multiply you exceedingly.” 3 Then Abram fell on his face, and God talked with him, saying: 4 “As for Me, behold, My covenant is with you, and you shall be a father of [b]many nations. 5 No longer shall your name be called [c]Abram, but your name shall be [d]Abraham; for I have made you a father of [e]many nations. 6 I will make you exceedingly fruitful; and I will make nations of you, and kings shall come from you.
Genesis 17:1-6
According to that Scripture above, the destiny of Abram's leadership was captured in verse 6 – "I will make you exceedingly FRUITFUL; and I will make NATIONS of you and KINGS shall come from you." If you look carefully at those keywords God mentioned while talking to Abram, you will notice that God intended that the destination Abram's leadership would be:
- Fruitfulness
- Nationhood
- Royalty
Towards guaranteeing that leadership destiny, God gave him a quick list, which we must not, disregard if we ever desire a secured destiny in our own leadership journey.
- To start with, let your journey be in My presence – walk before Me and be blameless!
- If you will not be carried away by pleasure or pain in your leadership journey, then you must enter into a covenant with Me and you must see your leadership as a covenant….not of works lest anyone should boast!
- So that you will remain inspired irrespective of the circumstances along the way, drop your old name and pick up a name that illustrates and summaries your destiny.
If you take the conversation between God seriously, admitting that whatever God says to one, He say to all; then, you will start noticing quick, but lasting effects or results on your leadership and even life as an individual.
